The first group outing: Washington D.C.

I had a great time meeting all of the students at orientation.

On Saturday the wonderful Dempsey, Gach, Miller, Scott & Thomas families took the students in Albemarle, Fluvanna and Louisa county. Looks like they had a great time together!

I’m so glad they had a good time. The benefits of these kind of gatherings are significant.  It creates in the students a sense of community and support from their families and the organization. I want them to have this sense of being connected: that they are not floating alone, but are part of a connected community. We (families, students, and CHI staff) are eachothers’ cheerleaders.

More to come. Here’s to a great start to a year of memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s to adventure!
